Got a New noise

I just figured it was a throw out bearing but now i'm starting to worry it might be the tranny. It sounds like someone is down there pecking on the trans with a hammer, it only does it when it's cold, when i first start it up, as far as i can tell. Then if you push in on the clutch half way or enough to make trans stop spinning it goes away. And also i posted about another noise about three weeks ago, it turned out to be the dowl pin fell out. It stayed in the timming case and ground a gruve in the cover so now i'm worried to death that there might be metal savings going through my motor unless the oil goes to the filter first which i changed before i started it back up. I cut the old one in two and didn't find any thing.
Thanks....Derrick

No worries on the engine, the oil goes through the filter before it gets to any bearings. As long as the oil pressure is good the shavings didn't hurt the oil pump.

Does the trans only make noise in neutral, or will it make the noise while driving?

I think it's the throwout bearing.

Sorry i lied to you i just noticed it tonight it does make the noise in other gears i could hear it in 5th and 4th i couldn't really hear it in any other gears it didn't seem to do it when it was under load only when I was cruising and laying my hand on the shifter (i know that not a good thing to be doing but it's a habit). Just curious what are the signs that there might be something wrong with the tranny. i'm probably just worrying to much anyways.
Thanks...Derrick

When I was young and stupid ( like the stupid part has changed ) I used to wait till parts came out so I was sure of the problem. I hate noises. They transfer around so much. I had a rear end cluncking once and I swore it was in the tranny. Pulled the tranny found no problems. Drove the next day and the spider gears came out of the cover.

I don't like it, I think you ought to tear it down.
