Got my 12cm housing today

I got my 12cm housing and I think I am going to try to put it on tomorrow. Is there anything I need to know or be careful of?

If you have to heat it up to make it pop off don't get it too hot. I burned up the oil seal heating it with a torch and you can probably go from there. Other than that its pretty easy.

Don't be afraid to beat the **** out of your current housing. I had a hard time until I just started slugging the thing with a hammer. Then it came right apart.

Nope, just spin the wheel every couple hits. Eventually, the housing will move and bind up the wheel. Hit in the opposite direction to avoid binding the wheel any more.

That will cover most of it; bending the turbine blades whilst cocking the housing on removal is to be avoided. On another tack, if you still have the bolts in the housing you can push on them( against the center section, on the bolt head ) at the oil drain boss if you drive in a #3 flat-blade screw driver. Again watch for turbine bind. Once you've got the housing moving even a little bit the penetrating oil will do a much better job of freeing things up.
cheers,
Douglas
