GDS 60mm Upgrade?

I have been hearing people rave about this 60mm upgrade, and befotre I spend the $200 something on it, I have a few questions. Aren't these turbos balanced from the factory, so after you upgrade it, do you have to send it somewhere to be balanced again?

Also, I've been thinking on just spending the money on a smaller s300. I could either find one used, or buy it new, but what size would you reccomend for a truck with only a fuel pin, and maybe injectors? I'm not going to be messing around with the fuel screw, so only fuel pin and injectors

Thanks.

I'd just stick with your H1C and upgrade it if you're just doing a fuel pin and injectors. I am going a similar route.

The injectors won't be to crazy. I was thinking about having my stockers EDM'd to 6X12's. Would that be to much for the GDS upgrade? If so, what injectors would you reccomend?

Thanks

I have been thinking the same exact thing. I recently bought a DennyT stage II fuel pin, and plan on getting a set of 6X12 injectors, and was thinking about doing the comp. wheel upgrade. How do you think my setup would work with the upgrade, and a 16cm housing?

While were on the subject of the upgrade, how exactly does it work? Do you just swap and go, or do you have to get everything rebalanced?

Thanks,
Parker

Swap and go, very easy to do, the sticky has the instructions, non intercooled trucks you have to get creative but still pretty easy.

My truck is intercooled, so no worries there, but my brother told me I would have to get my turbo rebalanced and it wouldn't even be worth it to me.

To the guys that have the upgrade, was it worth it?

I didn't have to get mine rebalanced. Thats the first time I have ever heard that.

In my opinion the upgrade is worth it if you don't plan on making over 350 HP. If you do, you should prob just save a little longer and get something a little bigger.

But you can always sell later or use it in a set of twins.
Hope that helps.

Best bang for your turbo upgrade buck. I'm considering getting another H1C and GDS kit for my old 16cm housing to quick swap install for whenever I have a towing trip coming up. The 12cm does spool quick and is fun to drive, but definitely limits top end.

I'm getting a bit more info on it right now, but I'll share if it works out.

I won't be touching the fuel screw, but I'm going to be putting the DennyT Stage II fuel pin, and 6X12's in the truck, so I'm not sure if it will still cool it efficiently. I'm still getting info. on this and my other "plan" but I'm not quite sure I will be doing this upgrade anymore.

Thanks again,
Parker

I am sure techicnally thay should be re-balanced, but I haven't had any problems in a year. Hits 38 psi all the time. Have pushed it to 45 a time or 2.
