Talking gds 60mm upgrade

Well since its xmas and the economy needs my help I went ahead and ordered the gds 60mm wheel and housing for my wh1c. excited to see what it will do. I know its definitely not the bees knees but its all the money I can throw at a good running truck right now. figure it'll help out the twins down the road later anyways hopefully install it around xmas/newyears and will give a full review on it for others interested, cause I sure couldn't find a ton of info on it for my truck. I was gonna do a before after dyno run too but not at $175 for a dyno session will use the ever so accurate seat of pants dyno for this one. really hoping to see positive results on the egts gauge too.

Doesn't it have to be balanced by a pro before running it?
That's why I've always let these guys do it for me High Tech Turbo

From everything iv read it won't need a rebalance and its not listed on their website either. something about being separately balanced...as long as the original wheels r balanced separately from the factory that will b fine with me. although I should call gds and ask.

Well it's in! Install was a breeze....maybe 20 minutes? Everything fit nicely and quality was definitely there. So now I'll give a rundown on my turbo for those interested in numbers. Stock turbo 100 kmh in last gear to 1400 degrees I could only get to 125. Crossdrilled divider to 15/16" I could get to 135. With this wheel I can hit 145. All tests done at 35 psi on flat ground. I would definitely say it's a worthwhile upgrade if u wanna do a little something for cheap. I am running completely smoke free at wot. Spoolup is a touch slower and when I say a touch I think the average driver would hardly notice it, but I also haven't retuned any afc settings either. It climbs to 15psi a little slower but more evenly n then it's gone oya the whistle adds at least another 100 hp lol I just like how much slower it climbs past 1200 degrees.....can definitely have more play time now. And this is at stock timing too Only negative thing I have to say is after breaking in the new turbo I stepped outta my truck to the smell of a roasted clutch

I must add that I called gds and they said balancing is not necessary cause holset balances their wheels individually and the gds wheel is balanced so it's good to just swap. No shimming necessary either. Also good thing I did the swap cause when I took the old wheel off I found a chunk missing outta the outside diameter. Guess it's somewhere further down the line picked up 3-4 psi as well
