Just a quick question.
I'm doing the fuel pin fix from the sticky.
All I have seen is members who have had drips out of the vent hose.
Mine is spraying fuel out like a high pressure fire hose!!!
Is this fix going to do the job or should I be concerned about something else??

Are you referring to fixing/replacing the seal of the actual needle that rides against the fuel-pin?

The sticky I'm referring to is "repairing a leaky fuel pin". I'm going off of that one as I was dripping fuel from the vent hose before I replaced my lift pump. Now as I said in my first post, it is spraying diesel like crazy!!!
My question was whether or not this is what I should be looking for or could there be another reason for the vent hose to be pretending to be a "pressure washer"

did you mess around with the fuel pin ( cone) before this started happening?

I just finished replacing the "O" rings and put it all back together and the same problem. I didn't even bother to start the engine up. Just turning it over had fuel spraying all over the place.

I bought a stock lift pump to replace the one that crapped out on me, it's a Delphi FP274. Do these come with different pressure ratings?? It only dripped from the vent tube before I replaced the lift pump. Backtracking my steps this is the only part I changed before the new problems arose.

Is there anything else that could be causing this???????????????????

My truck has been down for a month know and I'm getting frustrated.

It's run perfect for the 9 years I owned it and know is sucking $ faster than any other truck I have owned.

Should be about another week and I'm going to part it out.

I have never owned anything else in my life that has given me this much grief and not been shot, melted or lit on fire. Guess getting older gives you more patience.

ANY help would be met with great appreciation.

was the new lift pump the original diaphram style?

I was reading another thread, could I have blown the front seal on the injection pump?????

A diaphram style pump should not make enough fuel pressure to hurt anything. Also if you blew out the front seal the engine oil would be filling with fuel. Are you sure you did not nick an oring when you put it back together?

No, it's the same problem I had BEFORE I changed out the o rings.

You may wanna recheck your work. I had to do this job twice when resealing mine. I didn't quite have the o-ring seated in the bushing entirely and it got pinched by the nut that holds it in place. There was a solid stream of fuel from the vent tube after the first attempt. Which was worse than it was before. After the second attempt and getting o-ring fully seated, no leak. It's a pain having to do the work all over again but worth it if you find and fix the issue. Plus, you get extra practice of taking it apart and putting it all back together. It took me around 5 hours (taking my time) the first time and around 3 hours the second time .
