Fuel in engine oil

I have been getting excessive fuel in my engine oil. I replaced the lift pump & changed the oil but still have the problem. 2 qts. over full at 600 miles since oil change. Any ideas? 92 W350 with ve pump & intercooler

Front seal on the IP. You have to pull the pump to repair it. If the engine is running right otherwise, that's about all it could be. If you have a serious miss, it could be major internal, like piston, head gasket, etc.

Exactly what I thought as soon as I saw your thread. Not the quickest, or easiest of projects...but you need to stop that fuel from getting into your oil. You also need a VE pump re-seal kit....DGK-121 from your local diesel shop, or other on-line sources.

I will reseal the pump, engine does run fine, has no misses or performance problems. Can I replace the pump shaft seal without complete dissasembly?

Some say you can..I've tried and never been able to do it. Maybe with the proper tools you can. But since you have the pump out I'd just do a complete re-seal.

I'd double check lift pump. Hate to go through all the trouble of pulling injection pump to find out you got a bum LP.

he just replaced the lift pump, and changed the oil...I'd think it odd the new lift pump would have the exact same problem as the old one.

Piece of Cake! I did my first one in about 6 hours. Once the pump was out, I carefully drilled a small hole in the seal and threaded a screw into it. I then pulled on the screw to wiggle the seal out of the bore. I wrapped the keyway with a bit of electrical tap as to protect the seal then reinstalled the seal over the shaft with a socket of the appropriate size as a driver and a coating of locktite around the outer surface.
