flex plate broke...

Driving home tonight, truck started to make awful noises, pulled over realized it was coming from trans area, got home pulled plate off, and a piece fell out. Truck does not currently move or start now. Looks like bell housing as some minor damage. What causes this? What years of the cummings will this inner change with? How much for a factory one? Its a 93 4x4 518 auto. Thanks

I bought a 2nd gen one from a junk yard, a 94 is exactly the same thickness as a 1st gen.

Got mine from a 2nd gen. The trans shop had just put an aftermarket on the 2nd gen, one man's trash is another man's gold. 25 bucks!! The trans was already out for a converter and I was freakin out because my stock plate had 3 major cracks and I needed to get home but didn't want to drive on it or pull the trans again. Thank goodness for small miracles.

Dodge dealer is telling me its $675 canadian? No junkers seem to have any, anyone that does don't want to seperate it from their engine. I'm located in ontario, any help would be helpful, I pulled the tranny, there is damage to the bell housing but don't look bad, flex plate is shredded!

I have a stock 92' plate I removed when I upgraded mine (155k miles). There is nothing wrong with it, I just upgraded when I replaced my converter. If you want used and cheap, I can ship it to you.

Know how long your end wrench (double box) is, and how much force yer putting on it (fish scale) and do the math.
