First hook with new motor.

Got to try it out last night. Overall I am pleased, but will try to improve on it. We both left the line a little too soon. Only got it up to around 4000-4200 before it wanted to go. The clutch hydros must be getting weak or something. Our practice launches were at 4K, so we didn't know it really wouldn't go much higher .Will have to investigate that.
Once we are used to it, and ready to turn it up, there's plenty of fuel left.

Matt pulled in the 7500# and went 286' good enough for 3rd place.

Myself in the 8500#, went 293'. Not sure where I placed. Middle of the pack or so. There were several good running trucks that showed up for the heavy class.

Just happy it ran OK and didn't break!

Curt it was good seeing the 89 back in action. I think you ended up 5th or 6th or somwhere in there. And don't feel bad Most of the trucks that went out the gate were 2.8 and 3.0 trucks!!

This was the most carnage I have ever seen at Techumseh ever!!! Seems like between you Jeff and Brian the HO72s are gonna hold up pretty well.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the cheers Andrew, good to B.S. with you guys again. Will probably find somewhere to stay next time, though. I got home at 6:35AM.

I am sure you noticed, but that big hole they dug to clean up the fuel spill, pretty much killed 'er. Probably a decent stress test for EVERYTHING! Ha Ha

Did that Ford spit the yoke, or u-joint? (again)

I am happy with the HO. It is truly a beast. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

Here is a comparison of the yokes:
Left is 1480 HO72, Right is 1410 Dana 70

The bonus, that Spicer yoke, brand new was $75.

I was actually calm enough to monitor the gauges. 3800-4K down the track, 40 psi, and 1900*.

I was wondering how late errr, early it was gonna be by the time you got home as I didn't get home til quarter after 3.

Don't know if you saw us when you were goin down the track but we tried to signal you to cut it hard back across the track to the south as that hole was just about 25ft further down from us. They should have dug all the fuel contaminated dirt out with shovels and filled it back in but instead they just decided to dig a hole there with the boxblade. I'm actually suprise at how many people actually hit it after knowing it was there.

Yep the Ford busted a joint or a yoke heck he may have smoke the pinion, I'm not 100% sure. I've seen that truck hook 6 times and its only made a decent pass with out breaking twice.

Thanks for those pics that kinda put things into perspective.

Did you guy get any video of any of the other trucks pulling?

No, I didn't see you signaling me. I was pretty focused on holding it to the floor and the gauges. Someday I will be able to do all that and pick my line on the track. I was just going for it.

No other videos. Kelly is a good sport, but she is not that dedicated....yet.

I would think that Ford would at least put some kind of shield on the rear, since I have seen it blow twice in two pulls. They wanted us the put them on the '96 after 1 run.
