First Gen Parts (Salvage Yard)-
Hi guys-
I just thought I would let you know there is a salvage yard in Texas called Bronco Auto Salvage that has some clean parts for the first gen trucks. I just got a tailgate there and was VERY pleased with the customer service and the part. They really went the extra mile shipping it to Indiana and jumping through different hoops to find info for me. I'm just trying to return the favor and maybe help a few first-genners out in the process...I have no affiliation other than buying my gate there.

Good to hear. I looked for months for my tailgate. Finally found it through them. Jerry was the guy I dealt with and helped me a lot.
And no, I got the one with a PERFECT stainless steel finish panel. Which was good since my truck is a 93. I was about to give up on it too and just get one that was embossed. I bought it sight-unseen too, they were 100% accurate in their descriptions.

swhite, I ran over my original gate. The original was the one with the stainless finish panel too. I like the look of both styles. But original is original. I'm not sure what they have for more gates...but give them a ring and who knows...

It depended on the equipment options and year. Fancier trucks had stainless panels of various styles back to 84, while the more stripped/ work trucks/fleet types came with embossed gates. If it was an LE it got the stainless applique, 91 to 93, if it was your typical crank up windows, no frills type it would have the embossed gate. Basically, If it had moldings it had a stainless applique from the factory. It was an appearance package.
