1st Gen. for salvage

The time has come to salvage my pickup - rust is the culprit. I can no longer pass the state inspection and am now driving it on restricted travel farm inspection. The cab mounts and rocker panels need replacing and I don't have the skills to do any of the work. Can anyone recommend a company in the N.E. that rebuilds diesels - I want to see what the engine is worth. Thanks

I'm sure you could move the drivetrain on craigslist. There's a guy in Vermont that will buy it as well and part it.
I also know where a good 4x4 cab is and the mounts if you change your mind.
It is a 4x4 right? What year?

Thanks for the info. jerseybud, I'll contact you if I change my mind and want to think about swapping cabs. I've got a D250, not sure how much of a job that is swapping the two (w to d)...

Its easy the way you would be going, just not so much the other way around.
I also know of a 2 wd cab also in good shape for Maine.

i ran into the same problem and ended up putting my cummins into a f250 that i found with a blown 6.0. Keep your engine and just find something to put it in

Or just fix it? New rocker panels are about $30 online. Call the body shop and see what they can do for you. Once you have the truck looking good.. use fluidfilm to protect it from salt.

bannerd, yeah, rocker panels are cheap but cab mounts are hard to come by. I don't think they make oem replacements anymore, but I did find a fabricator online (can't remember the name) that was selling cab mounts for $52 each. And like you said Fluidfilm is the way to go!

If your cab mounts are gone you're not going to find those. You'll have to fabricate them from steel and weld the box and drill a hole for the bushings. If you're talking about the cab mount bushing, energy suspension makes them.
