filling getreg

Hi Guys
Where is the filler hole on a Getreg? I want to over fill it so it lasts a bit longer. Any tricks would be helpful also.

Filler plug is on the passenger side. I overfilled mine by putting a short nipple and an elbow in the filler hole and aiming the elbow up (you could use a street elbow, too, but I wanted more room for a funnel). Filled it until it overflowed, then put the old fill plug in the elbow. I recommend Redline MTL, made mine shift better.

You can buy one of those pumps from Kragens etc and fill it from one of the top side cover holes. Just put in 4 1/2 quarts instead of three.

Re:filling getreg

Make sure and overfill the thing by 1-1.5 quarts. There is one bearing in there that tends to run without much lube on occasion, and the overfill negates that problem.

There are two options, pull out the shifter tower and overfill through that (but it sucks), or take out the top PTO bolt and fill from there.

It's crucial to always keep it overfilled.

Just changed my tranny lube after 130K
I was going by what the manual said about never needing to service it....right

Anyway, I just pulled the shifter out and poured 5 qts into that. Worked fine and the tranny shifts much better now and I have piece of mind that everything is lubed.
