fass issues

i put a fass on my 91.5 cummins. its running out of a fuel cell in the bed. the fass is mounted in the bed aswell. I have all the lines hooked up correct and with hose clamps. The truck will start and run for like 15-20 seconds and then die. no throttle responce after 10 or so seconds.

Sounds like you got air in the system. crack a few injector lines and crank it till fuel squirts out real good.

happened to me when i did the fuel filter changeout the other day..

does it just crank and crank when you try to start it ???

i plugged the stock return line and its at about 17 psi. i got all the air out of the lines and it ran fine. Than all of a sudden i lost fuel pressure and it died. Im runnin a 32 gallon fuel tank out of a boat. Its all aluminuim with a 3/8 draw straw to the bottom of the tank. I can seem to figure out what the deal is?

You shouldn't plug the return line, you will overheat the VE pump.

Sounds like you have a restriction or the pump is getting air bound from a loose fitting.

when the pump return line wasnt plugged the truck wouldnt run for more than 15 seconds. So i plugged it because the fass has a spring and ball that releases pressure once it gets 17psi. i think i have it figured out, but i have run into another problem. I can only build 10psi of boost and it takes forever to get there. there is no smoke at all and my pump is maxed no afc and a denny t pin.

The 10psi problem sounds like a boost leak.

got the fass figured out. boat fuel tanks suck. it works perfect out of a 5 gallon gas can. But now i have no power. It builds 10psi @ 850* through the floor. What do i do with the injector return line? i put my hand over the turbo and watched all the intercooler boots suck flat. so i dont think there is a boost leak. The truck ran wonderful with the auto, i put a nv4500 in it and never touched the pump over the 8 months it sat. Why wont my pile make power?

Did you replace the banjo bolt on the return line with a high flow banjo bolt? If so put the old one back in...

Don't do that, you will kill the injection pump. It needs to have fuel flowing through it to keep it cool.
