Righty loosey lefty tighty - hmmm, it doesn't sound so catchy that way.

You will likely find that it is really tight. Even though I have wrenches I wind up having to smack the wrench with a hammer 9 times out of 10 to break the things loose. Once they pop loose the hard work is done, they just spin off from there.

I find it helps to put a little extra tension on the belt by putting a ratchet on the tensioner and pushing it towards the belt (the opposite of using a ratched on tensioner to remove belt) then whack the wrench on the fan nut, as mentioned it's left hand thread so whack it towards the drivers side.

Works best if you have 3 arms or other useful mutation

I'm sure some of you will flip out about this but, a long chizle bit on your air hammer will work wonders.

I second the air chisel, I did that on my 2000 to take the fan off for the winter. A 1 second brap and off she spins... that was so much easier than impaling the hammer into the rad or other expensive part. Just drill a small, shallow hole for the chisel to bite into.

I love my air chisel... brap.... brap... BBBRRRAAAAPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, we've all done it...
