Extreme Smoke on a First Gen... ?

I'm still a Rookie and everything but I'm eager to figure out one little thing... HOW can u get a first gen to put out large amounts of the sooty ole black stuff like a 12V 2nd gen? I love the stuff and mine'll do little blotches here and there but it's not quite what I want! I plan on putting a bigger pipe or Stax on her asap so that'll give me something to work with. From there I want to know what I can tweek, turn or remove to give me that extra amount of pleasure(I'm aware of the Fuel Screw... but besides that). So come on guys... let me hear some answers

Mike

Everyone has their own definition of "alot of somke." The smoke is just unburnt fuel so to make massive amounts, add alot of fuel and very little air.
Take a look in my gallery and look at my pictures. My truck makes a moderate amount of smoke and those pics on the dyno is with a killer htb2 turbo. You can only imagine what it was like with the stock turbo.

If you really want smoke, do as rebal said and remove the afc spring from the top of the VE pump. That will make a stock rig smoke good, if thats your cup of tea.

I heard of the AFC Spring but wasn't sure where to find it, let alone remove it. So my next question of the day is... Can someone get me some pictures/diagrams of a pump that's opened up... I might give this this a go... just for a little while at least

Oh and how does all that smoke effect your engine... and with the use of an auto tranny, will that deplete the amount of smoke I can get?

Get larger injectors also. I know that the POD's like to smoke a lot but that can be somewhat controlled. But they do like to smoke if you tromp on the go pedal. The other nice thing about them, they add some very good HP to your truck.

I run without the afc spring. Here is an example of the smoke that my truck put out at a recent DTR dyno day (the 2nd half of the clip shows the view from outside). It's only a light haze in my opinion .

Install a 3200 RPM spring and grind the AFC lever while you're in there. It'll smoke plenty.
