Question Shims----Getrag360

Does anyone know where I can find shims for loading the bearings in a 360???? I'll take used ones if anyone has a junk Getrag laying around. I can't put it together till I find some, and I really miss my truck.

That's a very good question...I had no luck finding one when I built mine I asked a dodge dealer for kicks and they tried to sell me the whole tranny for five grand! Do you have any shims at all, or do you need a whole set? I may have a few left, but I'll have to dig through my parts pile. I'm gonna sell my core getrag anyway, so it's a good time to look.

I need .003 -.005 on the countershaft, and the whole stack on the main. .040-.045. The mains were crude home made and I messured .040 on one side, and up to .047 on the other!! Could be why it started growling bad. Any you could help me with, I'ld be most greatfull! Send me an e-mail, or I-M me and we'll see what we can do.

Found Shim kits in Portland Or. $25 for both kits. Not bad I don't think. Thanks for the reply G1625S, I might take ya up on the offer anyhow. Might not hurt to keep them in the tool bin "just in case".

Cool--some info on where you found the shims would be helpful, I know there were others looking for just such an animal.

Let us know how it goes...I set my countershaft up a bit tight and she sings to me...hopefully it'll last 'till I can swing the nv4500
