I would get gauges now or back off the settings a little. Having recently tweaked my pump --->there is a serious increase in EGT's and hauling a load will worsen the situation.

I had wondered the same thing until I got my guages. Look at my sig to see my settings and than compare. I see a constant 800-900 cruising fast on the highway in OD. If I bury the pedal in lower gears it still only hits about 900-1000. One time I held it floored into OD for a bit and saw it slowoly creep up to 1100 than pretty much stop, that was at 23PSI of boost. I find with the 21cm housing that the egt stays pretty much the same at low throttle and high because during the low fuel periods around town the turbo doesn't make much boost at all and at high fuel periods the turbo works pretty well top end. For towing, I would definitely not want my 21 which is getting changed at some point because I think it runs too hot around town although not to the point of damaging anything(600-700)but hotter than it needs to be. Towing I would definitely be careful, I haven't towed anything yet but I have hauled and the temps go up much faster so be careful with right foot until the pyro is in. I don't get into it hard with a load but I suspect the temps could get up there. Hauling in the bed I think I saw about 1000 steady cruising fast 70 mph.

Either have a little more power now with a risk, or be cautious and save $$$$ that would go into a new block if you did get too hot. My .02 is turn it down and play it safe.

I think you'll be just fine. Just keep your foot out of the pedal while you're towing. Driving around town... you're not going to hurt anything. Hot temps aren't sustained long enough to do any damage. Sled pullers go to 1600* during pulls but dont hurt anything because its a short blast. Again, keep your foot out of it with a trailer on.

you can't got by how other trucks have reacted to pump mods. each pump reacts amazingly different. you could have meltdown egts with only one turn on one pump. and on a different pump you could max it and still not see meltdown #s. johnny your intake/exhaust and timing bump will bring yours down as well. also johnny, i saw you had an autometer pyro, next time you get a chance pull the tip out of the manifold and tell me if it looks like a bullet or if it has a step in it.

ok just to let everyone know i only driv emy truck about tiwce a day and when i drive it its less than 10 miles @ a time, and im pretty easy on the foot, also when i haul someting its only to the dump and back which is about 20 miles @ MOST, but i have to haul a loaded flatbed tomorrow, and i dont have the time to turn the truck down, so ill just take it super easy, and i should have my pyro in by this week, got my bossman to buy me 1!!! YAY, so i appericate all the info and opions guys, i think next few mods will be in the egt area as well, liek timing bump, k&n, and satge 4??!! sound good?
