Here you go. Using a spring loaded blow off valve to regulate boost will not controll compressor speed like a waste gate does. It will allow the turbo to overspeed & possibly destroy itself in a very dramatic way .. . . a compressor wheel explosion.

A blow off valve on a gasser does not regulate boost, it simply vents boost during shifts to prevent compressor surge & broken turbo shafts.

i wonder where that compressor wheel goes after it legs go?

tried to use 1/4" pipe sized pressure relief valves like on an air compressor tank to relieve boost. It was a dumb idea. They didn't flow enough to make a dent in boost pressure. I got a wastegated housing now with a manual boost controller and everything is under control.
I try not to think of ideas as "dumb" unless they are especially careless and/or dangerous.

without failure, learning simply would not happen.

When I looked at BOV's they were pretty high $$$$ too. Just get a wastegate housing.

In a normal BOV install this is the whole point, it keeps the compressor from stalling when the turbine stops making power. If you open the BOV under load to bleed boost off, the load on the turbine and compressor will be reduced and turbo RPM will go WAY up. The first thing to explode is usually the compressor wheel...
