dually disc brakes

i know there's probably been extensive research on trying to make discs fit on a dana 70 with duals. i recently found out about TSM Manufacturing Company, Inc. (long name ). i'm curious to know if this kit would work...

it's for a ford sterling rear end with 12-bolt cover and wheel bolt pattern that is 8 lugs x 6 1/2" circle. the kit has 12 3/4" vented rotors and says it will only work with duals.

If you look between the rotor and hub they are using a wheel spacer...looks to be okay I guess.

I stole the rotors from my bosses 04 1 ton single wheel truck and they look like they might fit very well. Still in the planning stages, gotta get some caddy calipers to be able to use the parking brake.

i did notice the spacer. that's why i was curious about it. kind of a pricey kit, but if you can find spacers, dually rotors and the rest of the parts at a junkyard, it may end up being cheaper that way.

I looked at their kits several years ago when I had my '93, and found that they use '70's eldorado calipers on them, which aren't exactly very good. You can also use the '73-87 pickup front calipers, but don't have a parking brake in that instance. The eldo caliper park brakes only hold if adjusted just right, and even then they prob won't hold a truck with any kinda load on it. I'd be looking to fab something based off of a late 2nd gen or 3rd gen parts.

I had a 2001 Dodge CTD 6sp that had 16'' wheels and rear disc brakes. Why not look into that angle for something that might work. Our truck wheels may not fit the 01 axle without something, a spacer ect. I just thought of this and I know where there is a ruined axle with disc brakes on it, not sure if the people will part with it or not but it's a thought.

If that 2001 had disk brakes and 16" rims that means it was a SRW. A dually with disk's uses 17" rims for caliper clearence.

When the Superduty line came out in '99 they came with rear disks, on the duallys, and 16" wheels. I know, I have worked on them. And my buds '01 3500 dodge has disks and 16" wheels. Its just a small assembly is all. I dont know the exact year Dodge started factory rear disk, but I know '01 and up has em.

Mine was a 01 or maybe 01.5 cab and chassis dually with rear disc brakes. It had 16'' wheels also.

my grandpa has an '02 dually with disc brakes on the rear and 16" wheels. guess a dana 80 swap would be easier or maybe even a 14-bolt chevy rear end.

jimbo486 pull one of your wheels and see if it will fit your granddads truck. This might answer alot of questions for you and many on here. Good luck.
