dually conversion
dually conversion
Ok, I've been looking for a w250 or at least a w350 thats NOT dually. I just don't really need a dually and i prefer single rear axle anyway. However, i came across a dually that was in good shape etc, etc. Is it difficult to convert it to single rear wheel and what has to be done to make it single? Thanks for the help.
So it can't just be made into asingle rear wheel? A friend of mine thought that maybe i could just remove one of the extra rear wheels and remove a spacer on the front wheel. Is there more to it than that? And what is the difference between the d60 and d70?
The Dana 70 Dually rear axle is wider than the Single rear wheel 3/4 tonne Dana 70.
You can put Single rear wheel style hubs on your front Dana 60 axle but the rear will still be wider. You can take the fenders off and just run the inner dual. It is the same width as the front axle. But the vehicle will look strange and you may not like it. A lot of people care very much what their truck looks like above all else.

well i guess you could take off the front spacers and remove the outside wheel, but it ain't gonna look good, if you put on a regular wheel on the rear it's gonna stick out past the wheel well, i guess if your from calli it will fit right in.
a DRW rear end is somewhere around 7 inches wider than a SRW

sorry Pape i'm a slow typer, and not "ALL" truck from calli like the wheele sticking way out there.
Pape i didn't know you had to change anything on the front other than simply pulling off the spacers. i may have passed on false info....i hate that.

I believe the hubs are different. If you could simply just remove the DWR spacers from the front axle, 4x4 wheelers everywhere would not have "convert" their 1 ton dana 60 front axle to SRW via new hubs altogether.
Not sure what all the differences are. But the hubs are tapped for bolting the spacer on whilst the SRW hubs are simply holes where the wheel bolts PRESS into.

I am asking this for me, but it could help Jason also.
Pape, i did a SRW to daully conversion and put a DRW D70 in my truck but left the front alone, if i wanted to use DW rims on the front can i just simply get the DW spacers from a W350 daully and bolt them on my truck ? ? ?or do i need the hubs as well.
again sorry Jason if this don't help you in any way.

Hello Dar,
You can convert the axle you have to a DRW with DRW hubs. The alxes are the same from the Spindles inward.
used DRW hubs are a lot more common than SRW and many off roaders out there looking to do the opposite will be happy to make the trade. Make sure they are for the dodge application though. The chevy spindles are different.
