drivers side turn signal/side marker issues with headlights on

91 Dodge W250 Cummins.
Turn signals & four ways work with headlights off however as soon as I pull on the headlights, the left signal does not work, neither will the 4 ways. Right side works perfectly
I replaced all bulbs even the light switch. Same as before.
I looked for a short in the front wiring found nothing.
So I am stumped. Any ideas!!!!

first thing I'd do would be to replace both flashers with electronic units.

Did you replace them because of,the issue, or earlier than, that when everything functioned okay.

I've had the mechanical flasher relays go bad, which is why I suggested replacement.

Cleaning the wiring harness grounds are next on the list see

I had replaced them since the old ones were OE. Had no issues.
That is my next venture is into the wiring under the dash.
Thank you NJTman

If one of the front lower amber side marker lights is not working properly it can cause issues similar to what you are experiencing. Check to make sure that both lower amber lights light up and alternately flash when a turn signal is on, if not then find the problem, if new bulbs don't fix it then check the sockets.

thrashingcows, thank you for your import. All bulbs are new & working as suppose to except when I pull the headlights on & apply the lady signal.

So do the amber side lights light up with the running lights on (but no headlights), and alternately flash with the signals?

no the headlights work the side markers lights work the left side turnsignal front side & rear won’t flash flip the turn signal lever over to the passenger side & they work as they should, using the 4 ways they will not flash with headlights on. Turn off the head lights & everything works fine. New headlight switch, new signal lever new bulbs. I went through the front end wiring looking for a short found nothing all wire insulation is fine. I’m wondering if something behind or at the fuse box maybe the issue.

When I had this issue, it turned out to be the sockets in the front marker lamps, under the headlamps. The little pin kept making contact with the spring (which is the ground) causing a short when the headlamps were on.
I took them apart and slipped some small heat shrink tubing over the pins so that only the tips were not isolated and that fixed it good.

so the bulb socket for the driving lamps & signals are what you are speaking about? I’ll have to get to that. Thanks
