Door question?

After I graduate from college next semester I plan to begin getting my truck ready for a paint job. However, my drivers side door doesn't seem to fit right. The top of the door has a 1/4in. gap near the drip rail. The door shuts and opens fine and seems to fit properly along the bottom and sides. I'm not much of a Mopar man, but the only thing that I can think of is maybe the door is off a Ramcharger. Would the Ramcharger doors be different from the pick-ups? The paint scheme and molding is different so I know the door is from another vehicle.

If there is no way to make my door fit right I would like to know before I have my truck painted.

Thanks.

Justin

Doors should be the same regardless of RC or pickup. There was a change somewhere along the line but it was only in the body line. Is the gap even all the way around the edge?

Over time some of the doors seem to bend outward where the main shell of the door meets the window frame. I have a 91 D250 that did exactly as you describe, fit properly everywhere except at the top. I had a lot of wind coming through the gap. I took a 2x4 about 3 feet long, put the bottom against the upper metal above the door panel, and used it as a lever to pull the upper frame in. It doesn't take much pressure to move the window frame in to close the gap. I went a little at a time checking for fitment against the weatherstrip. Now I have no more wind, and a lot less noise in my cab.

How are the hinges? Is the door bent or cracked where the lower hinge mounts?

Striker, door. 55074543. But Dodge is smokin' crack and wants $51 each.

Dorman lists Help! 38442 as a cross reference to Dodge 55074543. Should be around $10.

It sounds like mine is doing the same as Dodenstein described. I looked closer when I got home and the rest of the door is flush. Its like the top of the door is bent outward and I can almost touch the weatherstripping with my finger.

The hinges seem to be in good shape. There is slight movement when one lifts up on the door, but is isn't dragging on the rocker panel or anything.
