Do I have to fix this?
Do I have to fix this?
Found a sqeak on the truck. Both sides are broke, do I need to get another wrap for the springs? It seams to be only on the front of each spring, the rear one on each spring is fine.
I'd say you need to get it fixed relatively soon, like within the next oil change. Whether the springs will move or not without the keeper, I dont really know, but think of some of the torque loads they can get- it cant be real good.

Many similar spring-packs on various makes of vehicles do not have those bands and are none the worse for the lack.
I doubt you would miss them if you didn't know they were gone.
I would though, replace the whole spring-pack with new, instead of trying a fix, because the leaves are most likely just as deteriorated as those brackets.
I bet on close inspection, you will find them cracking at the tie-bolts.

Do the cheap fix. Just bend the fingers up to straighten out that U-strap. It will be fine. I bent the ones on my old 72 K-5. It helped to free up the springs for more articulation. But it drove on the road just fine with no problems. The only reason I would replace the complete spring is if a leaf or two was craked or broken, the center pin broken, they are saging or I just wanted to lift the truck.
