Most SRW axles were 32 spline and DRW axles 35. Inner wheel bearings are much larger on the DRW. DRW used a 5/8 lugnut, SRW 1/2. Dually rears came in 2 widths, a cab and chassis model and a pickup bed style model. Both are wider than a SRW model. Some have added duals on a SRW by using spacers.

I second the question. I currently have a 93 D250 2wd that I was originally thinking about using as a donor for my rollback diesel conversion. A secondary thought was to convert the D250 to a dually. I have a '76 Dodge camper that would donate it's DRW axle and the six dually wheels.

The rear seems to be perhaps a straight swap. I'd imagine that I'd swap the rear and springs from the camper. Up front...I'm not sure, but I was thinking upper and lower control arms...etc. For the bed I was going to install a contractor dump body.

Is this a viable plan? Big Stinky...Sorry for piggy backing your thread.

So what's the width difference? I always thought the cab/chassis looked wider but assumed they were the same for production's sake.

Between the two dually models (c&c vs. pickup) there is about 5inches. The cab and chassis model being the more narrow of the two.As far as single vs. the c&c model dual there is....hang on ill go measure to be sure. BRB.

Between SRW and C&C there is 3" difference, nearly 8" difference in SRW to DRW (box equipped). You can use a SRW to make it a dually, very tight but it can be done running only 235/85's and a flatbed. I have a C&C rear in my '92 with the box still on the truck with 3" fender flares.

OK, i have a challenge for you all. I still have not put the dana 70 that's in my donor truck into my crew cab. Now here is the question.I recently acquired a complete dually set up from an older D-350 meaning the front hubs and complete dana 70 rearend. This is not posi, but the donor is. Is it possible to take the axles and outer hubs from dually rear and adapt them to my donor rearend making it a dually w/posi ?? Does this make sense?

The dually housing is wider. You need to swap the pow-r-lok into the dually housing - assuming the dually axle shafts you have are the same spline count as the pow-r-lock.
