If it were me I would order for the worst case on the other side. Then you have the parts regardless of if you need them or not.

I believe this should help, just remember short shoe in front, and while I was back there I would change the gear lube

I just noticed they list different size drums for 12 inch brakes on NAPA. So now I am not sure which one is right or if they will all fit. The prices are a lot different too.

These are the differences. They all show for 2 1/2 inch 12 inch brakes and have the same 8 bolt lug patterns.

Brake surface depth: 88.7mm, 90.8mm or 78.7mm

Center bore diameter: 120.69 mm, 130.25 mm or
120.75 mm

Height: 102.0 mm, 114.3mm or 99.06 mm

Width 356 mm, 352.8 mm or 352 mm

OD: 356 mm, 352.8 mm, or 352 mm

Does anyone know if all of them will work? Autozone specifically lists the center bore as 102.69 for the full floating rear.

I would recommend that you go to rockauto.com and find the correct part there, I have never gotten an incorrect part from them. Then you will know which to buy at napa...Mark

Rock auto does not have them listed with enough detail. One of the ones listed for full floating axles has an amazon review saying it did not fit his d250 with dana 70.

This one looks like it and can accommodate both 2.5" and 3" brakes:

RAYBESTOS 1961R {#101961, 1961, F1961} Professional Grade; Outside Diameter 14 / 8 Bolts / Not Finned Info One of our most popular parts
Rear; with 6.29in Overall Height; with 12in x 2-1/2in or 12in x 3in Brakes

Thanks man. That looks right. It was just confusing me. I still don't know, why they list so many different drums for this truck. That one you listed does not show up for a d250 on rockauto. Go figure!

Where do you get the large arm for the parking brake. I am not finding it listed. I doubt it needs to be replaced.

Check with Oliver Foster, he probably has a few hundred laying around, but I doubt that they are bad. The one good thing about grease and oil is that it can be bad for moving parts if it accumulates and turns to crud, but protective from rust and other damage. One other thing, that post I did with the drum is from rock auto, it is way down on the bottom of the page...Mark

I am getting the brake drums, wheel cylinders and pads form Napa online. It will save me about $30 since Rock auto want to get ridiculous with the shipping charges.

Do you get a better deal buying this from the local Napa store or online?

Should there be a washer behind the stock spindle nut? Mine did not have one. I am guessing no since I can't find one listed.

There is no washer behind the nut. I don't know which is cheaper, but I usually buy online because I am just plain lazy sometimes. There is a better setup for the spindle nut that is a nut with a pin, a center washer with holes to capture the pin and a jam nut for the top. Those nylock nuts are really designed as single use items. Someone just recently posted a link to that jam nut setup, it should still be on the first page here. When I bought my truck, the front had a single nut and nothing to jamb it in. It was just waiting to loosen and come off...Mark

Grant, do a search on “raybestos parts” on here. It seems like two months ago I assisted another member by listing all the part numbers, specs, etc. on all items needed for the rear drum brakes, including the emergency brake cables. I believe I even listed prices and where I sourced the parts.

It was a mix of local NAPA, O’rileys, and amazon of where I sourced the parts.

I also listed seals and bearings required, if I’m not mistaken.

I have not found a left side parking brake cable that is right for the 2WD trucks thay are all too long. what happens is you have a big loop in the cable and the cable wont work smooth and the brakes drag I have tried Dodge, NAPA, Raybestos, and others last time I sent a new out and had it shortened. still need to get it put in. all the books only list one cable for the 2WD or 4WD trucks. also make sure the vent fitting that screws into the axle housing is clear if not clear the prussue in the housing builds up as the gear lube heats up and the seals can leak Ken
