Did you contact them ?
Yes I called and left a message at corporate on Saturday Nov 01...No response as of yet.

I have redone all the brakes, I installed a new flat head 6 in there, with a dry clutch 3 speed. I am re-wiring it from front to back this winter, and then installing all new glass and seals. I need to get it ready for a gov't inspection so I can register it in BC.

Once that is done I will probably leave it as is with the OEM drivetrain....but I have plans of a 4bt swap down the road.

Today I finally decided to get off my duff and make a spacer for my throttle pedal. When I installed the new carpet I added extra sound deadening and insulation, and the skinny pedal has never had full travel.

So I dug out some hard fiberglass pieces I had laying around. Scraps form my neighbour who's a commercial fiberglass guy. The pieces I used was about 7/16" thick. Used a spare pedal assembly to mark off the piece I needed. Little cutting and drilling got me this.

Needed a little fine tuning to clear the firewall insulation. Then I cut a piece of neoprene foam gasket material and applied it to the firewall side to help seal out the elements.

Once that was done I moved the ball on the IP arm to the inner hole, and then re-adjusted the throttle assemblies. Much better now...have full throttle and barely have to press the pedal to make it go.

I also decided to spin my fuel pin to the deep side while I was right there. Went for a quick drive around the block and it seemed to have a little more grunt. Probably the combo of full throttle travel, and the extra fuel being supplied to the motor.

When I turned my fuel pin there was a noticeable difference. Lookin good.

Very nice getting the speedo drive gearbox & VSS squared away, and shimming the accelerator pedal.

And the Desoto is a handsome car! Other than the fact that they are pretty scarce, and not a particularly great engine, I would suggest that you think about putting a 6AT in her . . . or a Mercedes six. Even with fluid mounts, I'm pretty sure a 4BT would shake her to pieces.

Its good to see you using the truck, and getting down to the smaller things on the list!

Why dis the Desoto engine. It must be about like the ironing board 6 I had in my '48 dodge as a kid. Got into plenty of speeding trouble with that car.

When I got it, it had about 40'000 very slow miles on it, probably never over 30 mph. Didn't take long, especially with the poor oil of the day to run out a rod or 2. Taper in it was ridiculous, so I bored it and rebuilt it. Very strong engine after that. Not particularly exciting for sure, but strong.

I agree with Mr. Martin. The Flathead 6 mopar motors a darn good. Powerful...nope...but will get you there and back with very little issue.

I'm still uncertain of a 4bt swap or not. I may end keeping the Flat 6 in there, and just hop it up with twin carb intake, split headers, shaved head, 3/4 cam, etc. Should be able to squeeze 150-175hp out of the old beast.

I agree on the old Mopar flat heads. Up until relatively recently you found them in all kinds of farm equipment, swathers etc. and still lots in older boats.
Have you considered a 50's era hemi drive train, that would keep it a period correct hot rod with more than enough power for normal use.

I had a 331 Hemi for it. But decided I did not want to go that route. I would prefer to either leave it a flat 6, or go with a 4bt. Period Hemi's are cool as heck...but I think they are a little over done in too many cars. I want something a little different.

When I go to shows I rarely see a mopar flat 6 in anything. 50's Hemi's...yup..more then a few. So a hopped up mopar flat 6 would definitely be different.

I just tried calling Corporate Line-X again...still just goes to voice mail, left a nice snarky message. Been almost a week since I called and left a message. I'll give them a couple days and if no response then I will begin my negative feedback campaign.

As good as it was, think about a leaning tower of power for her. ( 225 slant 6 )....... They hop up quite nicely and should still e dirt cheap......
