Clutch Question

Since I have my tranny out already I thought it might not be a bad idea to replace the clutch while I am at it. Does anyone have any recomendations for a decent clutch that doesent cost a fortune? This is a stock truck so I dont need anything too crazy.
Also I seem to recall that it is a good idea to replace the pilot bushing with a ball bearing. Does anyone have the part number for the bearing you should use??

Thanks for any help

Where do you get the stock Sachs at?? Does the dealer still stock them?? Cost??

Has anyone used the NAPA clutches? If so are they any good??

As far as the bearing/bushing I have been reading through some old posts and now Im thinking of sticking with the bushing.

What is the min. Thickness on the clutch disk? I measured mine and they are around 1/8" on each side.

Thanks again

The NAPA clutch is a 12", don't use it. As long as the old one looks OK (nothing cracked/broken) and there's at least 1/16" of friction material above the rivets, throw it back in and keep driving. You will not find a better clutch for a truck under 350 HP than the stock one.

South Bend Clutch can get you a new one, they also show up on Ebay a lot.

So I guess I should stick with the stock Sachs and maybe just replace the throwout bearing and pilot bushing?

I used a stock sachs clutch when I rebuilt my trans 2 months ago. I got the sachs clutch kit off ebay for about 430.00 to my door. I also upgraded the pilot bushing to a pilot bearing. Also consider your rear main seal while its all apart.

Maybe give southbend clutch a call. They did the work on my flywheel and said they could get the sachs clutch for about what I got it on ebay for maybe less. Topnotch service pretty much while I waited (45min) on the flywheel work.
