Buzzing from heater/defroster
Buzzing from heater/defroster
Has anyone else had a problem with the 'Heater/Defroster vacuum switch located underneath the dash down by your Throttle' from buzzing or making a sound? As I cruise down the road giving it slight throttle, I get a buzzzzz noise that drives me up the wall. Took about 2 months to track it down and found it to be the vacuum switch that controls the heater/defroster controls (Vent, Floor, Defrost, off). I can see it moving in and out without a problem so it isn't binding, just vibrates so little that it makes a noise. I have tried Permatex, cardboard wedged in (lasts about 4 days) and even slightly bent it away from the airduct that it is screwed to. Still it buzzzzzzes. Any other thoughts about making this thing quiet?
Re:Buzzing from heater/defroster
I am thinking its the spring inside that is resonant to the trucks vibration. Maybe try putting some rubber in between the pot's base and re-screwing it to the box. ???

Re:Buzzing from heater/defroster
I haven't tried the rubber but did place Permatex in between the actuator and the base. That worked but not for long. I may try some gasket material that you can cut to any size. It is just ignoring as all hell. First you don't hear it and then even over the radio you can hear it. Once you do, it just keeps coming back into your head like an old song. BUZZZZ. BUZZZ. LOL. It may be the spring inside because I can take it and twang it a little and makes the same noise. I'll check for a new one any ways.
