Building a 1985/1990 4x4 CTD Crew Cab Long bed
Very cool direction your taking on this build. But I have to say of the 4 trucks you posted up that have the mega cab build do to them, I like the look of the short box one the best. I don't know what it is about the long box, but it just doesn't seem to work for me right now...but that can always change....
Thanks for your interest and support!
For me the long bed is the answer. I'd like to have a newer Mega Cab as a long bed version too.
But what comes to this "1st gen mega" if you will, I'd like to have even longer bed on it. Like 10 ft or even 12ft. But It's not worth the hassle. I have a mint condition black camper shell for it too. But now the cab is longer than the bed is. Cab is going to be around 9 ft long from windshield to rear window. But then again... Same thing with the factory Mega cab
And what comes to the driveshaft. I noticed that my reg cab long bed W-250 1 piece rear driveshaft is few inches shorter than the REAR part of the Crew Cab long beds original driveshaft. And if I calculated it correctly the front and the rear part of the rear driveshaft are going to be the very close to the same length.
The front part of the driveshaft have to be modified anyway so no extra work there.
The club cab stretch means extra 18.1" more room in the back of the Crew and most of that is going to be on the rear passanger leg room. The Crew Cab is 33.9" longer than the Reg cab so this conversion is going to make my "new" truck and it's wheelbase 52"(132cm) longer than what my W-250 was before .

Love what you are doing, but you Fins are some seriously crazy folks.
Around here, your old trucks cab would be called pristine.......... You should see some of the junk we weld floor pans and body mounts back into and call it good.......
Keep up the good work.

And it's off!!

And now for the thrilling part of this project!

My E-Bay find from Georgia! It finally arrived!
1992 Dodge D-250 LE Cummins.
It's basicly as rust free as a parts truck can be! No bondo at all!

We had two Harley Road Kings inside the Sprinter and some parts too. It was sloooooooooow but managed to do the job.

I didn't want to part out the rest of my W-250 since I'll be using a lot of interior parts, like dash etc from that truck so they will be in their right place when I'll need them. But I need to move it around on my yard. So I made a little tongue heavy trailer out of it! = D

My D-250 is home!

It's missing a VE pump and an alternator. Otherwise it should be complete and working engine. It also should have a slipping fourth gear too = D

No floor mats at all. I think it's been used as a doghouse because of the horrible smell and huge amount of hair. I threw that Voyagers seat out right away and threw it away immediately.

Check out the body!!

So my plan is to take the rust free bed out of that D-250 and maybe use the rust free doors as well, but they need some work because of the dents.
I'll be using the club cab section of it as well.
And the rear part of the frame behind the transmission crossmember.
By the way. Someone told me in this topic that don't cut up the strongest Dodge frame. Not true. This 1992 D-250 frame after the front doors is HUGE!!
It's the same height than the Crew Cab under the front seat. About 7½ inches tall. But while the crew cabs frame is 7½" tall all the way to the rear leafs this Club Cabs frame grows to 8½" after the front door!
My friend already have the front part of the W-250 frame and the D-350 Crew frame and he starts fitting the 4x4 stuff in the front of the Crew frame and I'll start parting out the THIRD(Club Cab) Dodge truck for this build. But I'll be parting it out only between the dash and rear bumper.
Wish me luck...
