Boost and pump

I was talkin to a guy the other day that has his truck set up the way I have mine. He is gettin 23lbs of boost to my 18. Could this be a pump tweek and if so what should I tweek? If I have to I will put a pressure test on the intercooler but I would rather not if I don't have to. Seven pounds of extra boost would be nice haulin. I can use all I can get. Any ideas??

You could have a boost leak. However, each pump is set differently from the get go. You can take 2 brand new pumps and put them on a bench flow test machine and one would outflow the other. All pumps are not the same. Some have to have higher settings to flow the same, some dont. Especially on older pumps, this becomes more common than newer pumps. With used pumps, you have to take into account normal wear of the cam plate, spring tension, delivery valves, barrel, plunger etc. As you know, finding 2 trucks with the same amount of wear would be uncommon, or 2 trucks pumps that flow the same.

On the pump adjustments is there one that controls the boost or at least helps it get more boost out of it? Will an adjustment on the starwheel or the smoke adjustment give me more boost if adjusted right?

The star wheel and smoke screw affect "throttle response", not actual peak power and torque. The main fuel screw is the one to turn if you want more power and boost pulling a hill.
