Anyone ever run in the 60-130mph drags?

60-130 races would be fun. 3/8 mile races would be too.

Not anymore, it just got off of its diet... It will be out playing around later on with the new setup...

Even at 130 mph - I wonder what the HP to overcome drag would be ??

That'd be pretty neat to see pwrtrips! I'd say go for it and make us 1st gens proud!

My 1st gen seems to fall on its face on its top end. It has a lot of bottom end but loses it on the top end it seems like. But I think its just my sloppy converter, Hopefully when i get my new tranny it will solve my problem. I have the 3200rpm spring, the High idle screw removed, the throttle lever on the inside hole, Spacers behind my pedal mount and i also bent my pedal to get more before it hit the floor. I can hit 3800rpm and maybe even higher, but haven't dared go past that! I can get up to 40mph in 1st gear, and up to 60mph in 2nd gear and up to 85 in 3rd gear with the motor rapped out.

My goal first is get the truck into the 12's with the 5 speed, than run the 60-130. After that I'm not sure if I want to keep racing it with the 5 speed or sell the getrag and DD clutch and swap in a built 4L80E with manual lockup and manual valve body. That would make it much faster and consistant running. But thats a long ways off and i just need to keep focused on getting it to the track for its first run. I may take the N2O bottle with me. Just in case I can get better than a 13.5 on fuel I may try the go juice out and see if I hit a 12. Mostly the first trip out will just be getting the launch down and tuning. I'm going to try to limit boost to about 40psi and let the N2O make up for the rest of the air.

No I spoke too soon. I sure thought it was 80 but when I looked at the rpm vs. speed graph it didnt add up. I could probibly get close to 4600rpms if I had valve springs and the engine held together but I dont plan on pushing it that hard. I know for sure at 50mph in 3rd it will break the tires loose, but I'll have to look closer next time I get the truck on the road at exactly what speed I go into 4th. It hasnt left my back yard since last may.

My current tires are 265/75/16 which are the same height as 235/85/16. With these 30.5" tall tires I have gone thru the traps in 4th at 100 mph which equals 3900 rpm. There was a few mph left.
In 5th 3900 rpm equates to 130.

You could always try a 3.31 gearset.

They only make 3.31's for the D80 right? I'd like to only use 2-3-4 gears in the 1/4 mile.
