Another tranny question

Sorry to keep bothering you guys but just got my truck back from the shop yesterday, and I let it idle for about 5 minutes or so before I drive anywhere in the morning.Well for the first 5 or 10 minutes of driving the tranny seems to be slipping and then all of a sudden it start grabbing and shifting fine.Is that normal or is it the t/c or what?Out of money now so hopefuly its under waranty.Wanted to get some opinions before I took it back to the shop. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

try letting it warm up with the trans in nuetral, i think that lets it circulate fluid. i would guess the converter is draining back, maybe?

Mine does that if it sits for a couple days. It wont hardly back itself out of the garage. I put it in neutral for 30 seconds and it's fine.

Put it in neutral and let it idle for 30 seconds, then take it easy for the first mile.

Its hard to believe you get a reman transmission and they don't even tweak the valve body so it fills in park? Sounds like you need to ditch that trans and take it to a diesel performance tranny place and get it built.

If i got a new transmission and i had to wait 30 seconds for the converter to fill up, i'd be mad. Thats factory dodge error, a rebuilt trans should be fixed to fill in park. wow. /end rant.

A transgo shift kit could solve this, at least it did in our 91 727 trans.

yea, its an issue in the valve body. so that is why if you get a rebuilt trans with the stock valve body it does not fix the drain back issue.

whats an extra 30 seconds anyway when you starting it up. i sit there longer than that most of the time anyway.

If you rebuild the tranny again, you may want to consider a new valvebody. It can only help the tranny.

"SK-TFOD" www.transgo.com shift kit is a good upgrade for the money, I think there like $120ish.

You could put a transgo corrective shift kit in.. Its pretty simple. This will allso allow you to check the fluid lvl in park.
