Hey Everyone,
Just really quick, what is the part numbers on the 30amp relays you used to wire up your headlights with?

Thanks!

Bosch 30-40 amp

Ask for the Bosch 30 or forty amp relay. I have to admit, I find they work the best.

Is this mod for the really bright lighting by combining low and high beams together? If so, please lead me to a step by step schematic!

It can be, but you don't have to. There are a couple write-ups in the sticky.

Bigragu,
Wannadiesel did a very nice write up on turning on both filiaments on highbeams like you are suggesting.

Thanks for the help everyone, I did find me some relays. I appreciate it.

I myself have done the big wire relay mod with success. What I did was pull power striaght from the positive post on the battery through 10 gauge wire through relays to the lights. I use the original wire harness to energize the relays. One for low and the other for high. I did this because the wire used by the factory was really to small for the load of the two headlights and created too great of a voltage drop.
Combining both beams while on "High beam" is a different story. One that I have not attempted on the Dodge because of the dimmer switch being on the column. On the Ford, or any truck using the floor switch, I just shorted the power side of the switch with the switched leg of the low beam. This way the low beam stays on as long as the head light switch is on. If I can find the factory headlight relay, I will most likely do the same thing at the relay.

Boatnik, if you've a separate relay for the high and low bulbs, just take a simple diode and connect it so the 12v power from the column where it connects to the high beam relay, backfeeds the low beam relay. That way, the high beam feed actually powers both relays.

See, I'm to dumb to figure that sort of thing out. I just used a third relay triggered by the high beam wire to turn on the low beam filament.

I got by using 22 amp relays. Work well so far. And inaddition, the smaller red/black stripe wire coming from the drivers side high beam plug is the high beam indicator wire for the dash light. I did not hook mine up at first and the high beam dummy light in the dash did not work.

Try to purchase Genuine Bosch if possible; there really is a difference inside.

If you decide on the generics it would be a good idea to get a few for spares and keep them in your glove box. When these go out, it will always be on a weekend or when you are on a dark lonely road.

I have installed mine using 4 relays with one relay for each filament.
I did this so I can have my alarm flash my headlamps in a wig/wag fashion.

Thats the way I did it on my brothers 96 when his headlamp switch went up in smoke.
