Air to Water IC Install

Still tinkering with the '89. Went with an ebay water to air IC. It appears to be of good quality, real nice welds. Bar and plate design, mounting brackets, and even polished. It is actually kind of heavy. We wrapped it up so it didn't get scratched. Battery is going up front, behind the weight box.

Got the 3" piping laid out. 2- 40* bends and some 90*'s. Hump hoses for a little flex.

Mounted an electric fan setup out of a newer Buick. We are swapping to the newer style grill, too. Need to get a few misc. trim parts for it though. Also working on a cross-flow rad.

Still collecting parts for thew water side yet. Can't decide on a pump. Will have 3/4" lines and an ice box in the bed.

Thats sweet... How does that setup compare to a standard CAC. What did it cost, if I may ask. And last. Who made it.. Thanks

Nice.! c12h26 runs one of them sucessfully and they have let him run 13's i the 1/4 mile on stock non i/c trucks with these intercoolers and some pump tweaks. They will turn 5 gallons of ice water into bathtub water by the end of a run if you have enough fuel.

Looks like the pulling project is coming along good Captain, Are you on a stock clutch still?

When used with ice water it is supposed to get the charge air below ambient temp. I am not going to hold my breath for those kind of results, but I think it will help a lot. First we got to get it running and see what kind of pressure drop it really has, supposed to be less that 1 psi.

It came from ebay seller "Just Intercoolers". $200 range.

We have a single 6 button disc, sachs PP now. SBC DD here before too long.

Looks neat!

Are you restraining the engines' torque twist so it doesn't push/pull on the CA plumbing to far?

Yeah, she's chained down tight, 3/8" chain and a 1/2" GR8 bolt .I am figuring with the "hump" couplers it should have some flex anyways. Also, the IC is supported at the bottom and will be able to pivot at the top.

Have you seen under the hood of a Hemi Durango ?
They have a neat little 12 volt pump, 3/4 in and 3/4 out to circulate the water to the rear climate control heater.
They don't draw many amps either. Might see if any bone yards have one for cheap. It might do just what you want.

A lot of buses also have a 12v pump to get the coolant to the heaters in the back, but they might actually pump too much for just an intercooler.
