Air Conditioning Evaporator

I need to replace my leaking AC Evaporator this comming summer and of all of the people who have sucuessfully replaced them, where were you able to find a replacement that actually fit without having to rebend the tailpiece so it would fit in the case.

I have heard stories about all of the Chinese replacementsr not fitting including the ones from NAPA and Auto Zone.

Wish I had an actual sample that I could compare the new one to so there were no supprises once the dash came out.

I hate buying several different pieces hoping one of them will fit.

Let me know what problems you had getting them to fit.
Thanks Jim

Why not hit the wrecker and pull one form another A/C truck? I have a couple spare originals in the shed, just in case. One from 84, another from 93, and they are the same.

You could just have your evaporator sealed like a radiator. That way, you know it fits like the original when you install it.

I wish I knew where there was some, 1st Generation dodges are almost nonexistent here in Southern California in any condition.

I am going to check with my radiator shop and see what he can get.

Surely some of you must have had to replace yours, and no I didn't call you Shirley.

Thanks Jim

Hey Jim, I just remembered my '91.5 sitting in my backyard. Shirley , the evaporator just might be in good shape. It could use a good cleaning since the system's been exposed to atmosphere for some time now.
