so i am trying to get my ac fixed it is super hot out. if i put power to to the compressor it comes on and works and blows cold air. i tried cutting the two outter wires on the temp switch and wiring them together and that didnt work also put a paper clip in the connector to the low pressure switch and nothin is there anything else i can do also the cruise doesnt work if there is anything that i could look at on that thanx

 

The compressor clutch is supposed to have power all the time and the Pcm controls the ground to turn it on and off. So if you applied power to it and it works then the Pcm must be ok. There is a wiring schematic in the sticky you need to see where the power comes from and stqrt tracing wires. You might want to check all the fuses first and the fusable links also.

 

Sounds like there is no power getting to the switch, I am not sure if the cruise/AC use the same fuse link or not but that would be a good place to start. Sounds like a wiring issue to me though...

It gets .2 volts at the compressor. Would it still run fine and everything else be good if the crank sensor is bad it has been like this for 4 years or so. I am just trying to get everything fixed now though. I get .2 volt to the compressor wether all the time it is running so what would cause that problem

 

If the crank sensor was bad the truck would not be charging either. Did you check the fuses and the fusable links?

 

Checked the fuses and fusible links all were good and the truck is charging alt is putting out 14.4 volts

 

Guys, I can't remember but if the wires going to the crank sensor were grounding at the top of the block where they turn down toward the sensor, doesn't that take out the a/c as well?

 

Were are these wires at could i get to them to check I will try anything right now I just want the ac to work

 

Trace the wires up the front of the block from the crank sensor. I think they break over the front of the block slightly to the passenger side of center. After allot of years the wires will start to chafe against the block at the point where they change direction at the top and cause an intermittent short. If yours are showing the inner wire separate them, tape with electrical tape and add a piece of plastic loom over the area to protect them from future abrasion.

 

Ok looked at the crank position sensor wires and found nothing wrong with them. Any other ideas why I would not get 12 volts to the compressor

 

Got the compressor working the power to the relay was broke in the loom fixed and now the compressor works but not blowing cold going to try and add some more freon later

 

Make sure you check the A/C pressures as well.
