Thanks for the info, John.

Ow. I think I'll keep using the blue goo for $16. Not as bad as the $39 lock nuts they wanted to sell me though.

I wish I could slap myself, but truly, there were no openings of any kind on the face of the tensioner, only the single bolt holding it on the front of the engine. Perhaps I should have bought the new one so I would have that option the next time I need to remove the belt.

Also, thanks for the link on the valve adjustment! You have both been so helpfull. I only hope to pass it on some day...

I'm beginning to think that Dodge dealers rip us off for parts. There is no way in heck that those gaskets are worth $8 each! $2.00 is more like it and $1 is probably about right. Recently I made 3 gaskets for my turbo change. I used generic gasket material and about 20 minutes time with scissors and exacto knife. They work just fine. I didn't even want to go to the dealer for them.

Im difinately not doubting you Charliebrown38 but there should be a square hole in the front of the tensioner for a 3/8 ratchet to fit into. I've never seen one that did'nt have it. That would make replacing the belt a pita.

I probably steered you wrong by telling you it was a 1/2 inch when it's actually 3/8. Sorry, it's CRS.
