Does anyone know how to inspect my KDP? I have 208,000 miles on my truck and I think I have been lucky so far. Will I know if it falls out? Will my oil level drop, or engine die?<br><br>How do I inspect it to prevent it from falling out.

 

The only way to really be sure you have no problem is to remove the front timing cover.....Very easy to do, When you get this far to see the dowel pin, tab the darn thing and then reassemble.
Then you can sleep at nite with no worries.
I did mine in 45 minutes...start to finish.

Allen, when you did your KDP, did you use a new gasket and seal? I keep forgetting to get the parts and then when I have time to do the job, I do not have them.<br>Story of my life!

 

Get the gasket and front seal.....the front seal can be a pain sometimes....but be sure if you use your old seal with those miles it will start to leak so just go ahead and put on a new seal....as long as your in the timing housing remember to retorque all the housing bolts to spec's because they do loosen with high mile engines
