6.7 intercooler, any one tried one-will it fit?

I am having trouble tracking down a 7.3 intercooler and found a 6.7 OEM one. Does any one know if it will work with our trucks or have any info at all about them?

Without having seen or measured one, I would almost 100% guarantee that it is too tall to fit without major modifications. i.e. cutting the front of the frame off.

G1625S had one in his truck but it required allot of work. He had to cut off part of the frame to get it to work. I think its from a 6.7 but I'm not 100% it is out of a 2006. Here is a pic from his gallery.

That thing is HUGE! Does the bottom do anything, its behind the bumper? I guess I'll keep looking for a 7.3 cooler. Thanks

Hopefully Greg will chime in and tell you how it worked for him. I think he liked it.

Why not just cut the bottom off the cooler so it fits?

Look for 94-02 2nd gen intercoolers too, very similar to a powerstroke intercooler.

Hey, that's my old truck! I'm pretty sure that was from a 5.9 3rd gen, but can't say for sure. I knew I'd have to cut the frame, but I got a smokin deal on e-bay. All 3rd gen piping, all clamps and the intercooler, delivered for 120 bucks! That sucker did work, too! Granted, I was going form non-ic to huge ic, but nontheless the difference was dramatic. I saved the cooler, but there's no way I can fit it in my 2nd gen

i got one, and yeh it cools excellent, but i hope you have a torch or a plazma cutter, cause those frame rails got to be cut off. i built a cradle for the intercooler and used magnums xl's under the intercooler for cushion , it fits nicely behind a non ic truck without ac or a tranny cooler, not much room when you get done but i didnt have to cut my grill, i wish i had a camera, i would take a couple pics of my piping and my intercooler.

I have a 92 2WD and have on 03 cooler installed. did not cut the frame but not enough room for AC condensor. I had to relocate the hood safety catch further to the drivers side.
