X2X2X2X2X2 Weld that sucker! It will hold great, but sucks big time on wet pavement when you're in a hurry.

Find a d70 with posi and either swap the rearend or put the posi in your housing.

Your power lock could just be wore out. I thought my truck had an open diff until I pulled the cover. Check the equipment sticker under the hood (if it's still there) or pull the cover and have a look. Could be as easy as new clutches.

I looked at the equipment identification sticker. It is faded badly but i could make out what it said. It says limited slip so i will need to do something to make it posi-trac. And also i was trying to determine what the rear end ratio was. I can make out 3:5 and i believe the last number is 4. Is that correct? is a 3:54 one of the ratios they used in the 1st gen trucks?

I believe that limited slip and Posi trac are the same thing so you may just need clutches like Wanna said.

he's right limited slip=posi trac just different names for the same thing. Yours is more than likely just wore out and needs new clutches like they said before.
