Exclamation 1st gens are how quick? (off topic discussion from piston pump thread)

8.81 in the 1/8 is very impresive, but for a 1st gen come on. I sure would like to see it, what trannys behind it, and dont say a getrag 360, and your still running the ve pump right! It takes a lot to even get these 3rd gens to go in the 8s, cool deal good for you

I can't speak for David but I've only been down the track a fews time and my best 1/8 is 8.36 with the mods in my sig. So you better watch out for the 1st gens

Thanks.

I run the basic Bosch VE pump with the typical tweaks readily available here in these forums.

The trans is your standard A518 (non lock-up) that I "Layed Hands On" in the back yard.

Stripped? I did take out the spare tire and the rubber bed mat. That's good for a solid .10 sec.

Oddly, the fuel pressure goes no lower than 11psig tonight (WOT).

Man thats super, and this is the 93 3/4 ton in your sig? Theres not much info written down as you well know, lets to much to the imagination. Give it up, nitrous, propane,water/meth., some-all-none, I spend a lot of time at the local 1/8 mile track, not all 3/4 ton 1st gen farm trucks run in the 8s, matter of fact ive never seen one dip in the 9s. usually mid 10s

It takes way less than you think to get these old girls to run. (and run really well )

There's no track up here but I can give my buddys 06 mustang a good run for the money and he hates that.

Remember that our old trucks can be as much as one ton lighter than a 3rd gen - that's worth a lot on the strip.

My heap is actually mild by comparison to many 1st gens.

Mods? As you most likely know, fuel makes power in a diesel. So..

FUEL ~ AN-6 fuel line from fuel pick-up in the tank all the way to the IP. There's a 2nd gen piston lift-pump and bypass regulator on the way. The IP is stock mechanically less a home-cut AFC pin cone. The injectors are DDP4's rated for 75hp(+/-) over stock (160hp).

That's it for #2 fueling.

AIR ~ 100% true cold air BHAF housing feeding a TAG prefixed PDR HX35 hybrid turbo. It blows through a Banks after-cooler which blows through a Banks TwinRam feed-horn. All that flows through an OEM/stock long-block and out through an ATS exhaust manifold that spools the turbo with a waste-gated 14cm exhaust housing. The end exhaust gases are lead out of the truck via a full 4" turbo back exhaust system that includes a very quiet/high-flowing baffle type muffler for the thunder, and a 4" resonator for the turbo scream.

The engine is louder than the exhaust.

I rebuilt/upgraded the crap out of the OEM A518 transmission that includes a SunCoast non lock-up converter.

The resulting rotational effort is put to the 33" BFG all terrains byway of the OEM/stock DANA70 using the OEM 3.5x (?) gearing.

I've supplemented it with a 50/50% W/M system using two Snow .625 nozzles fed by a turned-up 220psig pump.

Nothing special by a LONG shot.

But I like it.

Great numbers all you guys impressed me with yalls ol 1st gens! My dad had a 91 back in the day i remember it was just like driving a tractor! Seemed like very very low rpm but would pull to red all 5 gears so fast. Great truck and ill always remember that great mechanical inj. pump feel, like i said felt like a tractor, and pulled like one too. I just had no-no idea one would be so quick on the short track [1/8]

What has to happen to the original/stock intake to employ the two ports of the Banks unit ??

Thanks.

There is a dirt track but...No track to speak of but that dosen't keep some of us from running hard. (they just repaved 8 miles of highway between N. pole and Fairbanks)

We got all kinds of cars, trucks and motorcycles here. Smart driving goes a long way. I spent my first winter driving here (age 16) in a 66 Barracuda with bald tires!
