1st gen tech in Va
A guy at work has a 91 and wants to bomb it for towing power. Who's the go-to guy in Va for this kind of thing? I know Timinva is the man, but dunno how much he's worked on the ol ve trucks.
What kind of work is he going to need and what do the bombs cost?? I'm sure a pyro guage and a clutch are in order. How far can he go on his stock turbo?
I know jack about the first gens so treat me like a n00b =P

I don't know if you've checked the sticky, but this has alot of info in it. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=102027
Next thing, we need to establish is the 91 intercooled or non-intercooled. 91 was a change over year, just like 98. Early 91's are non-intercooled and the later 91.5's are intercooled. Plus there's a few other differences too injectors in the non-intercooled ones are 9mm diameter and have slightly larger holes in them, plus some drivetrain differences not worth mentioning since its a 5 speed.
How much weight is he looking to tow? Pryo is the first thing he needs. May or may not need a clutch depending on how far he wants to go, I understand that the stock clutches in these will take quite a bit of torque. Although it'll probably need one sooner than later.
The beautiful thing about a VE is they are Very Easy to tweak and the best part most of them are free and a govener spring is only $15-$20 IIRC. Unfortunatly I don't know anybody down in VA thats works on the 1st gens, but if you where closer I'd happly help you guys dial it in.
