1st gen differences
Looks like a pretty nice old truck but definitely look past the oily detail jobs these car dealers use on their vehicles. the '89 D250 I bought for 4500 in 2004 looked to be in the same condition and detailed like that. But the shiny glimmer fades fast especially if you really use the thing.
Bonus that it is a 5 Speed! I would hold out for a club cab 2wd or 4wd 92/93. You can find some gens for sale privately. Especially in Oregon!

I have actually come to like the regular cabs. Of all the extended cabs I have ever owned the back seats wind up looking like the bottom of my closet. Out-of-sight-out-of-mind sort of thing. I will say it was pretty handy on rainy days but then again thats what a camper shell is good for. I have also thought about 4wd but again of all the trucks I have had with 4 it seemed to be more of a what-if feature then something I used all the time. I would rather get the milage from a 2wd especially with the way fuel is.
Diesel SRW and DRW (W or D) 350 were all the taller heavier frame, with the EXCEPTION of the 3/4 ton 1992-'93 SRW, Standard Cab 4x4, which also got the taller frame.
The E/C were also all built with the taller, heavier frame, EXCLUSIVELY.
1989 (and previous non diesel) 3/4 tons were "usually" the shorter frame.
Don't forget MIL spec. and Forestry Service trucks, the government got some funky vehicles.
I could write a book on these trucks, about all of the differences I know of.
The differences in wiring, compatible parts, subtle changes through the years, as well as WITHIN specific years.
Then this thread would be just too darned big.
Mark.
