1991.5 W250 Le

Hi, I just picked up a 1991.5 W250 CTD automatic w/Banks Power Pack. Great truck, 109K miles, red and white, one onwer; pics attached. I am in the process of checking everything out and fixing things and this leads me to some questions.
1. Radio is dead. Check the #8 fuse, it is good and there is power to it from the switch. Should I check inside the Radio or just get another?
2. Autotrans. Are there any problems I need to look for?
3. Transfer Case. There is some fluid slung on the frame and chassis form the output end. Is there a seal that needs to be replaced?
4. Banks Power Pack. Is this standard or a factory upgrade?
5. Pin in timing cover. I have read about a pin that holds the two pieces of the timing cover together working loose and getting into the timing (belt or chain/). I have not found this area yet. What do I look for?
6. Under heavy braking, the front suspension bumps up and down and there is some side to side movement in the steering wheel. Is this related to warpped calipers or worn out suspension parts.
I searched for most of this but did not find much. I hope I do not overlook anything.
Also, any Western NC people around?

Hi and welcome to DTR.

1. I would just junk the radio. You can get one that plays MP3 cd's for under $150.
2. If you have no complaints it must be working OK.
3. Yes.
4. The Banks stuff is an aftermarket upgrade. Overpriced for the effect you get, but you didn't buy it. It's a nice bonus.
5. The KDP is under the timing cover. The timing cover has to come off to deal with it. Look in the sticky for more info.
6. Could be both. Check the suspension thoroughly and replace anything loose.

Just a couple things to add:

When my truck had the same vibration under braking it was a warped front rotor.

Also, these trucks don't have a timing belt or chain. It's all gear driven under the timing cover.

Enjoy the new truck!

My truck also had some vibration or shaking under heavy breaking. I found that the rear drum breaks were worn and out of adjustment causing the front breaks to do all the work. When I bought my truck It had the Banks power pack badges on it. After doing some research I found that It may still have the exhaust but someone removed the Banks 14cm wastegateed housing and intercooler.

Play in the steering is probably the coupler right in front of the steering box. Get a Borgenson shaft for it and never have to worry about it again.

Ok, got the dead radio out, found broken map light in top of the dash. Where have most of you guys mounted your EGT/boost gauges? I may buy a pod and mount them to the top of the dash to the left of the steering wheel.
I am picking up a used turbo timer for $50 and installing it soon too.

Ok, used the 4 wheel drive this morning and the engaged light on the dash did not light up. I checked the bulb, it is good. Where is the switch?
