This is an experiment. I have never seen or heard of a shift boot made this way. We shall see how it goes. This is the second try at the top. the first my math was off and the hole came out too big. This time it came out a little tighter and I made the slope a little less steep. here are some of the steps to get where I got. Wherever that is. I don't get enough practice with this to be as good with it as I would like to be.

That's just the top. I am attempting to make a bellows style boot instead of the cone that is the norm for upholstery shops.
I did it on my 1940s singer industrial machine. I don't have much room to work here but when we move to Oklahoma I will be able to set up a bigger table around the machine for cutting.
Then I can do my interior.

That snowmobile seat cover turned out pretty sweet.....well done! And your shift boot looks good....little too red for me though...

Thanks Brian,. the boot really isn't that bright. my little camera just over saturates red really bad.

This morning I cut 1/2" off the bottom of my down pipe. it was about a 1/8" from being able to mount my HX35. after that I rebuilt the turbo to the point I needed a 12 point 10mm socket to torque the compressor wheel. All I have are 6 point. My wife works close to home depot so she picked one up at lunch.

A little mock up. the top hasn't relaxed yet and is a little puffy. the bottom bellows are just sitting randomly stacked. the tool on the table is to cut notches in Hogs ears.I use it to make notches for better fitting on tight corners. This may just work.
