Didn't get much done today just drilled out the remaining rivets.
and removed the four bolts.holding the motor mount cross member.
All that is left to do to get it out is to cut the passenger side motor mount pad off.
I also got a rebuilt steering box. It should work for now

Man you have all the toys! I'm surprised you're allowed to have spark producing devices in Kalifornistan. What with the fire hazard and all. They're probably working on legislation to remedy that

Got the engine cross member in for a mock up. I was a little off here and there but not enough to hurt anything. Now I have to mark and trim the sides so the mounting plates will fit. as it sits it is well within the 1/8" tolerance i figured on( about 1/16" and 1/2*
The engine sits a little high in front but that is likely that the cross member is hanging on new motor mounts instead of having the weight sitting on it.

Again I had forgotten about another of your fab projects. Your 3 piece cross member looks good in there!

Thanks Brian,
I was worried that it wouldn't fit, mostly that it would be too short. I was hoping that it would tuck up a little tighter to the pan. It ended up a little farther forward though so I should be OK.

I guess there were a few people that didn't It could be done with the engine still in the frame. That cross member Is the key. It still isn't real easy to get in with only two hands I t will be better with the side plates though.

I got the flanges welded on the cross member yesterday. I was really careful not to get it too hot in in any one spot and warp it so I bounced back and forth between parts and sides of the parts.
I will set the engine on it today and see where it sits. I also will bolt up my steering. box to see where The gussets will have to go for my front spring hangers.

I am also thinking about putting a 1/4"spacer behind the vertical plates that bolt to the frame above the spring hangers. So when I get around to building a bumper It will have more support than just three bolts on each side of the frame.

This morning I set the weight of the engine in the cross member. Every thing fit really nice but the front of the engine sat About an inch too high. I didn't spend much time trying to figure out where my error or errors were. that didn't do me any good. So I sat under it looking at it. I didn't want to start over so with necessity being a mother. I came up with this.
Yes the rare adjustable motor mount standoffs. Simple solution
