Valve adjustment

My 96 2500 4x4 is stock with 122k. How much economy will I see in my fuel consumption after a valve adjustment. Im getting around 14.4 right now in town and I dont use the overdrive unless over 50 mph. How much can I expect to pay for a valve adjustment? Also, Does anyone have a part number for a round air filter that will go in place of my air box if I put an adapter on the end of my air inlet hose. I got a number from a fellow TD owner, #2790 from Napa but that number didnt work. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure about picking up any MPG after the adjustment. But I have had mine adjusted twice, once for it's 25,000 mile check (yes they were out and no it wasn't a waste) and when I had the 60# springs installed. Both times the engine ran quieter, and better, but I never figured the mileage. You can expect to pay 75-90 dollars for the adjustment.

It's unlikely you will see any change in your mileage from a valve adjustment. There are so many mileage variables greater then valve adjustment that those overshadow any miniscule change it might make.
Someone will chime in with the BHAF filter #, I'm sure. I don't know it, but it's common, and may even be on this site somewhere. If you don't get a response soon, poke around!

My experience has been that most 12 valves only need the valves adjusted twice, once at 25k again at 50k. After that they don't seem to move but should probably be checked every 100k.
Never noticed any mpg gains adjusting the valves.

Well I just picked this 12 valve up and it is my first CTD. I am very happy with it but want to get a baseline as far as a maintenance schedule is concerned. I have no records or anything. With 122k on it Im something needs replaced. I got it for $8900 so Im not complaining.

I like to check mine every 24,000 milkes but I have never really seen any mpg increase by doing so.

NAPA 2790 is a good number as far as I know. Its the filter I run with a pvc reducer to correct the sizes.
