Tranny cooling line leaking.

I drove 600 miles over the weekend and noticed at one stop that there was tranny fluid under the truck. Checked the fluid level and it was little low. Found a hole I. The 1/2" metal pe that runs down the drivers side back to the tranny. It looks like at one time there was a clamp there that held the lines away from the oil pan and from ach other. It's the line that runs from the front drivers side and crosses over to the passengers side and then into the tranny. Where can I get one, haven't been able to locate it at any of the local parts stores. Or can I splice in 1/2" hose for now? This is on a 96 Dodge 2500 4x4 with a Cummins.

I would just splice a piece of hot oil rated hose over the leak and hose clamp it.
Should last a long time, pressure in the cooling lines is very low.

Infidel,

I found some hose at Napa, it's Weatherhead H10108, rated at 350 psi. It dawned on me after I installed it that I didn't see a temp rating on it. I looked it up and it's rated for 212 degrees. Is that a high enough rating to not have to worry about it bursting when hot? Makes me nervous, with that rating.

It should hold, I wouldn't worry.

Just noticed last week mine have begun to leak as well in the same place as yours - where they're both clamped together up at the front. The 2 long lines I'll use hose as well, but the short line I just bought a Dorman line on ebay ($17 to my door) as it has the sensor port on it. Are the Dorman lines any good? It came today & looks like an exact fit.

Amazing how cheap the lines have gotten since they hit the aftermarket.
Used to be they were dealer only and cost over $100.
I thought I was doing good getting the sensor port line from Napa for $42.

I fought with a quick connect fitting on the trans that kept disconnecting at inconvenient times and leaving me on the side of the road.
I removed the fitting and bought pipe fittings to connect to a hydraulic hose that I had made to fit the truck. This is the output from the trans that houses the temp sensors and runs to the trans cooler under the exhaust manifold. I had a machinist make a manifold that would utilize the stock sensore and accept the aftermarket temp sensor. Now the ECM is happy and I have real knowledge of the trans temp.
Good luck on your quest.
