Thoughts on Firestone Transforce A/T
I'm looking at a new set of tires for my 95. It has the Transforce A/T on it now, 235/85R16, wore out with I don't know how many miles. I'm looking at them in either 265/75R16 for the stock steel wheels, or 265/70R17 for a set of 04 wheels I got with my 97. Both sizes come in an E rating. And the price is very reasonable.
Main use for the truck is a daily driver, with some decent hauling on the weekends.
Any suggestions on other E rated tires in those sizes? Thanks.

I have been running M-55 Toyos on my work rigs for over a decade with no problems. They aren't diesels, but 4x4 Chevy gas rigs weighed down to a little over 9000 lbs.
Never really looked at exactly how mony miles I get out of a set, but I'd guess around 45-50 thousand. Normally two years, and I replace them well before their gone to hell. Every other winter.
They seem to hold up really well to the weight, and haven't failed yet while towing fairly heayve trailers down the highway in 105* temps.
Kinda spendy, but a very good tire if you want a little more traction than your average A/T. Just got a set of 265's for my new work rig last week, and I think they were about $225 per.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR's, size 285/70R17. They carry a D rating, but are within 80 lbs rated of the Transforce. The deal was simply too good to pass up on them. Got them on yesterday, ride nice and quiet. Talked with several guys at the store(customers) who had them and swear by them. Plus the added size really looks nice. I hope they turn out well, otherwise I will throw them on my 97 and look into something else.

How are the Cooper Discoverer ATR's working out so far. I have the transforce A/t 265/70 17's. They are half worn at 12k and mostly winter driving with light plowing. More than fair traction for A/T's, but not to good on threadlife

my dad bought these in the 265-75-16 for his '01 and they are the best tires he has ever had hands down!!! They show crazy good wear and he has a 8' western quick disconnect plow on the front and should still get 50,000 miles out of them. If I could get them in a 285-315/70/17 they would be on my rig tomorrow!!!
here are the tires http://www.tireboy.com/dayton_timber...rcial_tire.htm
he bought them at tires plus not at the link above

Not on my truck, but on my mother's DMAX, we had the original Timberline A/T, Commercial Timberline A/T, and the ATR's now. Timberlines wore out at about 25k, the Commercials made it to about 32k, and the ATR's are almost brand new yet at 15k.
I had sold my 95, just recently bought it back. The ATR's were traded to a buddy with a 99, they treated him very well. My 95 currently has 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers, still looking good at 6k miles. Will see how they hold up.

transforce AT's totally suck. i would only get 30,000 to 40,000 on them with my truck pulling a trailer and they rode rough!!!
now i run the DUELER AT REVO's 235/85/16 and i get anywere from 70,000-80,000 miles out of them with no issues. thats pulling my 45' enclosed trailer all over the country!!! i have never had a flat and i run them till they look like a slick with absolutley no tread at all!!!
if anyone would like i can take pics of my last set and my current set and show how they wear!!!
