I am on my second set of Toyo AT's. They balance and ride very nice, but at 23k my first set was to the wear bars. I do rotate around 5k, the Les Schwab manager seems to believe this set will wear better, 285/75/18 vs the first set which were 325/60/18. Time will certainly tell.

Had the Firestones on my '01 and Toyos on the '03. Firestones are a decent tire but the Toyos worked WAY better in the winter. However the Firestones were quite a bit cheaper.
The question is, how much do you want to spend?

Transforce AT's are a very smooth, good riding, quiet HIGHWAY tire. The AT designation is a misnomer, IMO. I have a set that get run in the summer. They wear well, even in the mtns, lots of highway speed curves take a toll on the outside tread of most tires. The Transforce AT's hold up very well to that, but they are terrible in the snow!
Had the Mega in about 12" of fresh snow off road, it was about useless. Not good on highway snow either. Aired down, they're just ok, but I'm talking like 40-45psi front, 30-35psi rear. Then it handles like poop at speed.

I disagree about the transforce AT , Ive had them for about 20k and hate them! Scared the crap out of me in the rain,When I started towing alot I ran some cars upto PA it started raining I slowed down to 60mph and still didnt feel comfortable (they hydroplane very easily) I drive a truck for a living and dont consider myself a sissy but it wont be long before these are off my truck, as soon as I can save the money they are gone! the goodyears that came on the truck were alot better tire and I didnt like them very much either. Maybe its just luck of the draw some people like the Generals some dont I think my next set will be toyos Ht

Keep them coming guys, thank you.
What I am looking for is quietness and good snow/ice traction, and of course longevity, I don't want to replace tires every 30,000 miles.
I had General Ameritrac and lasted me 70,000 miles, I know Michelin have excellent durability but price is a little steep.

Administrator ........ DTR's puttin fires out and workin on big trucks admin
I put the Firestone Transforce at's on my truck. I had run the BFG's and Toyo's and went back tho the Firestones. I had them on my 03 F350 that plowed commercially, never ever a problem. $170.00 per tire on the truck.
