straight pipe/valves?
I was told that I would end up burning up my valves with a straight pipe on my 96 CTD due to low back pressure. Is that true or is someone with gasoline knowledge assuming they have diesel knowledge?

It will sound real good when using the truck empty, but I am here to tell you when you pull a heavy load at highway speeds you might not like the loud deafening drone it gives off. Straight is better with a magnaflow up close to engine and some moroso header wrap, wraped back to behind cab, as I have been wrestling with this issue, now if you do not pull any heavy loads enjoy, if you do you will not like it. Just came thru Arizona with load to kingman and back across 40 to Oklahoma, truck is getting the magnaflow muffler now as I type as the way out there was miserable and on the way back not to bad. Tell all those gasser guys that the TURBO gives you all the backpressure you need.
Striaght pipe is all good for the motor. Lower EGT's, faster spool-up, more smiles .

Straight Pipes
txwelder,
The only bad thing it might do is hurt your ears or maybe get you a sound level citation/ticket, won't hurt the engine one bit.
